With research showing increasingly
disturbing facts about the dangers children
are exposed to online, together with a barrage
of terrifying internet related stories about
paedophiles grooming children in chat rooms,
suicide pacts and encounters leading to
abduction. Statistics show that at least 54% of
surveyed parents are demanding improved
parenting controls and 51% want improved
monitoring.
Even those parents that do understand the
severity of the problem, most are simply too in
experienced with computers to know what to
do about it, thus leaving them feeling
powerless to do anything. |

There is also very little in the way of
support or information resource they can
turn to. Websites and leaflets try to give
parents helpful advice, such as “see if your
child quickly turns off the monitor when you
walk in their room”, however these methods
are unreliable and generate little more than
unfounded suspicions that can do more
harm than good. |
